Teacher's Programme at the Glucksman

The Glucksman Gallery would like to let you know about this season’s exciting Teacher's CPD programme.

Programmes for professional educators at the Glucksman are designed to enable teachers from all subject areas to find connections with contemporary art and to learn creative methods for use in the classroom environment.

This July the Glucksman’s Summer Course for Primary Teachers returns with a new line-up of artists and activities. The course is accredited through Drumcondra Education Centre and participants are eligible for EPV days. You can read a short blog by a participant of the 2017 course - http://artsineducation.ie/en/2017/08/24/guest-blogger-leanne-troy-primary-school-teacher/

The Glucksman's seasonal masterclass invites teachers from all backgrounds to work with art professionals and to explore ways art can enable students to have a more complete understanding of our role in the world, the impact humans have on the environment, and how crucial our ecosystem is for a healthy planet.

Summer Course for Primary Teachers

Learning through Creativity is a 5-day course accredited by Drumcondra Education Centre that enables primary teachers to consider how an engagement with visual art can enhance learning in other strands of the curriculum. Working with the Glucksman curatorial team and professional artists, participants will learn practical art making skills across a range of mediums and develop their own art integration lesson plans for use in the classroom. This course is designed around the 5th/6th class Primary School Curriculum.

Teachers Masterclass – Art + Ecology

What is the human relationship to nature? This masterclass explores the ways art can enable students to have a more complete understanding of our role in the world, the impact humans have on the environment, and how crucial our ecosystem is for a healthy planet. The class will look at subjects from across the curriculum with a focus on the interrelationship of geography, natural resources and climate, and their effects on daily life. Join curator Tadhg Crowley and artist Aoife Desmond to look at the intersection between art and science with creative projects that can be reimagined in your classroom.

Participants of the course will receive a certificate of accreditation from the UCC Centre for Continued Professional Development.
